WEEKEND 1: The Work Begins...

It's now June of 2008 and the exciting work begins.  We begin by striping our  all the hardware and bad wood inside so I could evaluating the entire project and get a idea of what it was going to take to repair and refit her.  It was determined that it was far easier to strip almost everything out and begin with a bare hull both inside and out to handle all the work that was needed. I can't even count the trips I took to the dumpster with all the damaged items and trash removed.

(Below) Here is a picture of the chain plate mounting that broke free from the interior hull caused by Hurricane Katrina.  This picture shows 1 of the 2 chain plate mounts that remained that didn't get pulled thru the deck causing a nice large open hole in the deck. The other did...

Ok now for round-one cleanup pictures...

(Below) It was Father's Day and my daughter felt guilty I guess so she gave her dad some badly needed extra help.

(Below) It was important to remove many parts of the existing cabin structure & wall sections to inspect the damaged areas to the hull from the interior side.  Here are a few pictures to actually see some of the issues that had to be addressed...
